Thermal cutting is one of the fields where automation can and will be able to provide the highest level of advantages when compared with the current manual cutting execution. The reasons are the following:

  • Better safety for operators.
  • Better productivity (in some cases in the petrochemical and nuclear sector, cutting execution times were reduced from 10-12 hours to 30 minutes).
  • Better quality.

During the last few years, REA Group has dedicated consistent levels of resources to this sector, completing many laser, plasma and oxy cutting plants.

Like for other fields, an effective tool is the offline programming software, both parametric and from file with 3D (STEP,…) or 2D (DWG,…) drawings. In this case, in addition to the necessary cutting devices, the robot will also be equipped with optical sensors for calibration and for adaptation between virtual and real environment, ensuring precision and speed levels that are sometimes difficult to reach by hand.
